Made By Hand

Made By Hand

Each and every item is made by hand. The leather is cut by hand, stitched by hand, and finished by hand (with the sore fingers to prove it!).

Hand Cut

The leather is cut by hand without the use of a die or laser cutting machine. Each piece is marked the ol' tried and true way. Ruler, scratch awl, and blade. There are many different knives for the different ways that the leather can be cut.

Hand Stitched

Each item, be it a wallet, belt, book cover, or bag is stitched by hand using the saddle stitch method. This requires one long piece of thread with needles at either end. Each needle is passed through the same hole from either side, creating a very strong and long lasting-stitch.

Hand Finished

Each wallet, belt, book cover, or bag is hand finished. What does that mean? Isn't it finished when the leather is stitched together? Technically, yes! But the real quality is in the finishing details. Vegetable tanned leather has a unique property where if friction is applied to the leather, a glassy finish can be achieved. At the end of the build of each item, the edges of the leather have friction applied by an edge slicker. This generates the distinctive glassy finish that vegetable tanned leather is known for!
